Abstract
This research study explores environmental pollution problems in the leather processing industry. Chemicals used for hide tanning find their way into the environment resulting in salts being present in the effluent of the tanneries. The study seeks to reduce salts in the effluents by incorporating a chilling unit to the tannery system and many other Cleaner Production options available in the leather manufacturing sector.
