Abstract

This research work focuses on trade off among conflicting multi objectives of CNC End Milling process for metal matrix composite (MMCs). Experiments were designed and conducted based on L27 orthogonal array. The controllable parameters for end milling are weight percentage of SiCP in the metal matrix, cutting speed, depth of cut, feed& cutter diameter. The study provided to minimizing surface roughness (Ra) and maximizing material removal rate (MRR) occurring during end milling process for composite material LM6 AL/SiCp. A statistical approach Grey-Taguchi Method is used for combining the orthogonal array (OA), design of experiments (DOE) with grey-relational analysis (GRA), which enables to optimizing multiple objectives problem of CNC end milling. The results show that semi finishing process of milling is best among 27 experiments. Regression modelling validate grey-taguchi methodology by obtaining best value of grey relational grade.
