A Review on Performance Improvement Techniques in Wireless Optical Communication

Optical Wireless Communication (OWC) otherwise known as Free Space Optical (FSO) communication is a future ready wireless technology which solves many communication bottlenecks at very low implementation cost. The performance of FSO is sensitive towards the atmospheric turbulence. By using a proper error correction code this effect can be mitigated. This paper deals with the basic concept of FSO and reviews recent advancements and development in free-space optical systems. The other aspects on the system design optimization and performance improvement are also discussed in this paper.
