Abstract

Mandibular fractures in the pediatric population are uncommon. The conservative treatment is in most cases advocated before the use of internal rigid fixation because they have a negative effect on skeletal growth and unerupted teeth. This paper presents two groups, group A treated by fenestrated acrylic splint and group B treated by modified oropharyngeal airway tube to be used as a splint, both are constructed on the mandibular stone casts and fixed in place with circummandibular wires. Data was collected and analysed to compare between the two types of splints. The fenestrated splint showed better results than the modified airway tube.
