Abstract

The title of the present article is “Preventing and Pursuing the Destruction of Shiite Religious Places According to the Case of the Destruction of the Buddhas of Bamiyan“, because today, due to the international community's great attention to cultural rights, cultural places are respected by communities, and any action against these places is considered wrong. The purpose of this article is to investigate how the process of protecting Shiite religious places can be improved with the existing capacities in international laws and customs and by following the example of the Bamyan case. To achieve this goal, it is necessary to first examine the importance of protecting cultural places in the eyes of the international community. The method used in this article is descriptive-analytical. Research findings suggest that the protection of all cultural heritage is recognized as a universal value in today's world, and given that religious places undoubtedly have a cultural character, their protection is very important. Therefore, Shiite religious places are of great value for protection.
