“Knowledge is power”, a phrase attributed to the celebrated British philosopher Francis Bacon, is of great relevance today, in the midst of the greatest revolution in terms of information, in the history of mankind. In this sense, this article references and uses open data to extract critical information about human development and competitiveness in the world and Colombia, and to observe, in perspective, the lessons that this contributes to the exercise of local foresight.
