The effects of alcoholism are far reaching. Alcohol affects every body system. Earlier studies focused on loss of self control, which is considered to be a vital cause of alcoholism. Several factors can contribute to one's loss of self control. Subjective vitality and personal growth initiative can play as protective factors over addiction. On the basis of previous literature and available theories, the present study aims to find out the influence of the self forgiveness and perceived social support on subjective vitality and personal growth initiation among alcoholics who undergo rehabilitation and alcoholics who do not undergo rehabilitation. The sample consisted of 80 alcoholics (40 from rehabilitation & 40 from non rehabilitation).
