Abstract

Active learning is an important factor in the learning process; the student needs to be involved during the presentation in order to be effective in learning. The education system is plagued by complex issues of importance, quality, accessibility and equity. This traditional teaching has been identified as one of the major factors that negatively impact student engagement and motivation in various fields. The main purpose of the current study was to promote effective learning methods for natural science and computer students at Wolaita Sodo University. A descriptive research design was used. Data were collected from primary sources through questionnaires and views. Among the classes at the veterinary school DVM third year students, 10 lecturers and 36 students were selected using the Yamane formula. Self-explanatory questionnaires were used to assess teachers' practice of practical learning methods and classroom observations. There was a deviation (Std. Dev. = 2.295) between the ALM practice and response and p-value (p = 0.001) indicating a significant relationship between ALM and student responses and perceptions but there was an insignificant association in teacher and student response. ALM. Major challenges of using ALM are student failures, poor student attitudes, poor student attention, and language barriers. Therefore, training should be prepared for educators to encourage ALMs that are not normally practiced by educators and to make people aware. Citation: Takele Teshome Somano.
