Student community is an indicator of social and political processes in our state, which gives students the opportunity to more effectively influence on social life. Today, in higher education institutions of Ukraine, there are various student associations that represent the interests of students and promote the socialization of the individual. The purpose of the article is to analyze the role of student self-government in informing the social activity of students. Higher education carries out both direct and socialization. In this way, the higher education contributes to the formation of the cognitive component of socialization. An important factor in the socialization of a person is the development of his social activity, which manifests itself in the behavior of the individual and his activities. Student self-government provides wide opportunities for self-realization of a personality in various spheres: organizational, public, scientific, charitable, agitational and informational ones.
