Specific functional significance of the law culture of junior pupils

Abstract

The article presents the analysis of formation peculiarities of law culture of junior schoolchildren. The basic aim of formation of law culture of primary school pupils is the preservation and development of spiritual and law values, transmission of appropriate experience to the youth, support of mechanisms of reproduction of the legal consciousness of the Ukrainian people and its influence onto the vital spheres of social. Formation of law culture of junior schoolchildren is made in the process of law education – purposeful activity concerning the translation (transmission) of law culture, law experience, law ideals and mechanisms of conflict resolution in a society from one generation to another, and its content is to involve primary school pupils into the study about state and law, legality, rights and freedoms of the individual, understanding the essence of law concepts, doctrines, development of a stable orientation to law-abiding behavior. The article aims at singling out, theoretical grounding of specific functions of law culture of junior schoolchildren and determining their social and educational meaning. The functions of the legal culture of elementary school students and their socio-pedagogical significance are considered in the article. The following specific functions of law culture are singled out (cognitive-transformative, law-regulative, valueable and normative, law and socializing, social-legal, communicative). The law-regulating function of the law culture of junior pupils provides a stable and dynamic manifestation of all elements of the law system in which he is involved; organizes the relationships between the pupils themselves, between pupils and the world of adults, and influences the choice of legal behavior depending on the particular situation. The main task of the value-normative function is the involvement of the junior pupil in the system of value-meaningful and normative-regulatory categories of modern communities. The law-socializing function of the law culture of junior pupils is necessary for a relatively non-conflict entry of students into social relations and consists in respectful attitude to the norms of law for the purpose of reliable protection of junior pupils from the destabilizing influence of criminal groups. The communicative function of law culture provides communication of junior pupils in the social and legal sphere.
