This year the scientific community of Ukraine celebrates its centenary birthday of the outstanding Ukrainian linguist Academician Oleksandr Savych Melnychuk, whose scientific activity was closely connected with O.O. Potebnia of the NAS of Ukraine, where it lasts. At that time he headed the department of general and Slavic linguistics. Olexander Savych is the author of numerous works in the field of general and Slavic linguistics, etymology, Indo-European studies and syntax.
