Aesthetic Bracket System: A Review

Patients are conscious about their appearance while having orthodontic treatment as they expect a lovely smile at the completion of treatment. There is a need for optimum aesthetic appearance while undergoing orthodontic treatment. This necessity led to the development of lingual and invisible brackets. Clear aligners are popular these days as this satisfies the aesthetic concerns of the patients.As aligners are expensive, fixed appliance treatment using aesthetic brackets are preferred by major bulk of orthodontic patients. The two major aesthetic brackets include ceramic and polycarbonate brackets.The Clinical performance of aesthetic brackets has significantly improved. The strength, force control and friction of aesthetic brackets have been reduced due to improvements in bracket base design and modification of the arch wire slot.
