Abstract

The campaign of introducing the European Union to the general public has been running in Ukraine during recent years. The courses dedicated to the study of European integration processes have been introduced at Higher Education Institutions, although the methodological background of teaching is insufficiently developed and the classes are mostly held ordinarily. Therefore, the purpose of the article is to characterize the methodological means, which ensure the intensification of higher education students' learning activity while studying the courses of European integration direction. Effective cultivating the future teachers' understanding of European integration processes, the history, current state and prospects can be achieved if the following conditions are provided in the educational process: suitable higher education student's location in the classroom, which promotes live communication; motivating to learn by enriching gained knowledge; transferring the role of the teacher to the role of the facilitator and reducing authoritarian influence by transferring management functions to students; using business and role-playing games; using mental maps in preparing answers; writing essays for reflection in studying particular issues. Then subsequently it is considered relevant to explore the possibility of adapting the developed means of intensifying cognitive activity to distance learning.
