INTEGRATION OF THE DEFINITIONS «SAFETY CULTURE» AND «ENVIRONMENTAL CULTURE»

Abstract

Introduction. The article reveals the issue of integration of the definitions «safety culture» and «environmental culture». The task of developing among future specialists such important integrative personality traits safety culture and environmental culture becomes urgent. Purpose. The purpose of the article is to reveal the integration of the definitions (incompatible at first sight) «safety culture», «environmental culture», which confirms the need for their coordination. Methods. To reach the goal the following theoretical methods were used: analysis of psychological-pedagogical and scientific-methodical literature, systematic analysis of the researched issue, analysis of conceptual-terminological system; analogies based on the community of the fundamental laws of dialectics for processes of different nature. Results. Taking into account the safety culture involves the acquisition by future specialists of theoretical knowledge and practical skills necessary to create safe and healthy living conditions,design new equipment and technological processes in accordance with modern environmental requirements, forecasting and decision-making in emergencies, generally accepted the purpose of preserving these conditions is the formation of environmental culture of the individual. Originality. The safety culture is defined as a component of professional culture of specialists,which reflects the unity of their theoretical and applied training and practical ability to use special-technological and ecological-valeological tools for solving problems of environmental activities. Environmental culture is interpreted as a system of generalized views, beliefs, ideals, values of a person, reflecting his understanding of the need for coevolving relations in the system «person - society – nature» and determine the direction of its activities to achieve harmony in this system, its sustainable development. Conclusion. If safety culture is the formation of a person's consciousness and culture of safe living, the acquisition of knowledge, skills and abilities to study the dangers of his environment, while studying the means and methods of human protection from them, necessary to ensure a comfortable and safe life. The environmental culture of the specialist is aimed at harmonizing the biosphere,technosphere and society, which includes not only the possession of a system of knowledge, skills and abilities in the acquired specialty, but also skills, ability and readiness to professionally solve life safety problems, motivation for environmentally friendly activities, ethical norms of behavior due to the involvement of applicants in solving the problems of continuing environmental education. The author argues that there are prospects for further study in the disclosure of the component composition of the safety culture and environmental culture.
