Abstract

Sri Aurobindo’s Savitri has its own exclusive place in the world literature. His work Savitri is a victory poem it is a love’s victory over death and through that Savitri becomes the future poem. Sri Aurobindo has spent good number of years for writing this epic. And in one of his letters he wrote that he has rewritten the poem many times whenever needed to lift it more high in the level of consciousness. He has devoted more than four decades for writing this epic and till his last date he was engaged with his work of Savitri. Savitri is now the longest epic ever written in the English language consisting around twenty four thousand lines. Many lines of the poem have the mantric power one can feel if one read it with a proper attitude. Though being the great Indian spiritual leader Sri Aurobindo has panted very beautifully the Mother Nature in Savitri. It shows and opens the new point of view in the mind of the reader.
