Abstract
In the XX century, different studies on the Turkmen literary language were published. Along with the studies on the Turkmen literary language, decisions were taken at different times to make its spelling rules permanent. Especially in the period of Soviet Turkmenistan, congresses were held in order to clarify and standardize the spelling rules of the Turkmen literary language and to ensure unity in writing. One of these congresses was the II. Linguistics Congress. The decisions of this congress were published by the Turkmenistan Academy of Sciences in 1955 under the name of “Türkmen Edebi Diliň Orfografiyası Barada TSSR-iň II Lingvistik Gurultayınıň Rezolyutsiyası” (Decision of TSSC II Linguistics Congress on the Writing of Turkmen Literary Language).
