Abstract

As a result of many years of investigations Kazan and other archaeologists have identified and studied archaeological sites bounded up with written monuments of the Middle Ages. Among them there are the undoubted discoveries – the complexes of the Ugric cultures: Nevolino, Lomovatovo, Vanvizdino, Polom, post-Petrogrom, Chiyalik. Rich and, in many ways, unexpected data allowed us to take a different look at defining historical processes in the north-east Europe and their dating. This article presents a brief description of the post-Petrogrom culture that existed since the end of the 11th century and till the Golden Horde period. This culture made a significant contribution to the ethnic genesis of the Finno-Ugric peoples of northeastern Europe.
