Materials of the Kama Neolithic Culture on the Results of the Excavations VI–VII at the Igim Site in the Lower Kama Region

The paper deals with materials belonging to the Neolithic era, obtained during archaeological research at the Igim site, which is located in the Menzelinsky district of the Republic of Tatarstan. The site was discovered in 1958 by an archaeological team led by A.Kh. Khalikov. In 1970–1971 excavations were carried out at the site under the direction of R.S. Gabyashev and P.N. Starostin. As a result of excavations, it was possible to obtain an expressive Neolithic complex belonging to the Kama Neolithic culture. Fragments of dishes of the Kama culture found at the site let the author to speak in favor of this. The ceramic complex of this culture probably reflects the first stage of functioning of the Igim I site. When considering the ceramic complex of the Kama culture, its main cultural features are given stereotypes in the manufacture of dishes and its chronological positions are determined.
