Abstract

He is Abu Abdullah Muhammad ibn Yusuf ibn Muhammad ibn Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Yusuf al-Sarihi, nicknamed Ibn Zamrak. He was born in Granada in the year 733 AH to a family that emigrated from eastern Andalusia. The poet grew up small, like a meteor igniting and memorizing the Holy Qur'an quickly, and he began to differ in the circles of the sheikhs, drawing on their knowledge and lectures. Perhaps the most prominent of them are Abu Al-Barakat Ibn Al-Hajj in the origins, and Aba Abdullah bin Marzouk in Sufism, but the one who took care of him is Lisan Al-Din bin Al-Khatib, who is his teacher exclusively
