IMPLEMENTATION OF THE CONTENT LINE «INTERACT ORALLY» OF PRIMARY LANGUAGE EDUCATION ON A COMPETENCY BASIS

Abstract

Introduction. Nowadays an urgent problem is an achievement of school education quality, which must meet certain requirements defined by standards and regulations, the social needs of the state, and individual requests. Linguistic and literary education of primary school pupils is characterized by the multifaceted nature of tasks; since the Ukrainian language, the course is not only a separate subject but also the main means of mastering all other school subjects. Pupils' success in acquiring knowledge in all other subjects, increasing their cultural level, and spiritually rich language personality formation and development will depend on the native language abilities and skills (reading, asking and answering, narrating, retelling what has been heard and reading, expressing their thoughts orally and in writing). The competency-based approach aims at the process of learning the Ukrainian language in the conditions of the New Ukrainian School at the forming key and subject (language and speech) competencies of primary school pupils. Purpose. The article aims to reveal the possibilities of implementing the content line «Interact orally» of primary language education on the basis of the competence approach and to offer examples of exercises and tasks that implement the theoretical principles of the competence-oriented teaching methodology of the Ukrainian language in the process of working on the oral speech development. Methods. Communication skills mastering is facilitated by the use of methods that involve pupils in active speech activity, in particular: productive (language information should be directed to the organization and improvement of pupils' speech activity, become a means for creating oral and written dialogic and monologue statements); heuristic (participation of children in solving cognitive tasks); problematic (pupils' awareness of the problem and searching for the ways of solving and proving it,); interactive (learning involves working in groups, joint activities, active interaction of all the pupils). Results. The main idea of the New Ukrainian School is competence learning. It means that pupils should not just acquire knowledge, but learn to use it in practice and master the skills. The priority task of primary linguistic and literary education is the forming the competence of fluency in the state language using, the achievement by pupils of the general learning outcomes defined by the state standard: the learner interacts with other people orally, perceives and uses the information to achieve life purposes in various communicative situations; perceives, analyzes, interprets, critically evaluates the information in texts of various types, media texts and uses it to enrich his / her experience; expresses thoughts, feelings, and attitudes, interacts with other persons in writing and in real-time, adheres to the norms of literary language; researches individual speech for his /her own linguistic creativity, observes linguistic phenomena, analyzes them. The main aim of studying the Ukrainian language course in primary school is communicative competence formation, which involves learning the language by learners not as a sum of linguistic knowledge, but as a means of self-expression and communication. Conclusion. The implementation of the content line «Interact orally» of primary language education based on the competence approach ensures the strengthening of the practical mastering of the native language, forming communicative competence in the process of studying various topics in Ukrainian language lessons. Such an approach to developing oral speech encourages primary education pupils to express their opinions, judgments, conclusions, and advice, which is an important condition for developing monologue speech, creativity, critical thinking, key competencies formation, in particular civic and social competencies, and lifelong learning.
