Algorithm for selecting a digital application of videoconference communication for the implementation of improving the qualifications of teachers by distance education

Abstract

This article is devoted to the actual problems of the present – the organization of the process of advanced training in an institution of postgraduate pedagogical education in emergency conditions (for example, for a period of wartime or quarantine restrictions associated with COVID-19, etc.). In particular, it concerns the selection of digital video conferencing applications for the implementation of the specified process for distance learning in synchronous mode. With the help of an expert assessment and on the basis of calculations performed using the formulas of mathematical statistics (Pearson's criterion, Kendal's concordance coefficient), the equivalence of the criteria justified in the previous works of the author and their indicators for evaluating the considered digital applications was proved. At the same time, two key indicators (payment for use, security and confidentiality) are identified as one of the criteria, non-compliance with which completely excludes the use of a software tool for the implementation of advanced training in an institution of postgraduate education in distance learning in a synchronous mode. Based on the above, the formula for calculating the integral assessment of a digital videoconferencing application using a certain scale has been refined. This made it possible to clarify and describe the sequence of performing the relevant actions aimed at selecting a videoconferencing software tool by an institution of postgraduate pedagogical education. For a visual representation of a specific list of actions, a flowchart of this method is built. Further research may concern the practical verification of the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm for selecting a digital videoconferencing application for advanced training in an institution of postgraduate pedagogical education in distance learning in a synchronous mode
