Abstract
An on Farm Trial was conducted during Kharif 2007 and 2008 in five villages of Chatra district of Jharkhand to assess the suitable dose of fertilizers for upland rice. The experiment was conducted in 20 replications with three technology options viz., TO1: Farmers practice i.e. cultivation of Brown Gora, a local rice variety+ 10q/ha FYM, TO2: TO1+NPK@ 25:12.5:6.0 kg/ha and TO3: TO1+NPK@ 50:25:12 kg/ha (Recommended dose of fertilizers). The results revealed that highest grain yield (15.12 q/ha) was observed in the treatment with recommended dose of fertilizers (TO3). It was 47.0 and 33.0 percent higher than the yield observed in the technology options TO1 and TO2, respectively. In terms of economics, it was found that the highest net return (Rs. 4976/ha) was recorded under technology option TO3 and it was statistically at par with the net return (Rs. 3363/ha) observed in technology option TO2.
