Abstract

Aims of the study: To highlight the increasingly recognized place of addictions in the adolescent population and the perception of caregivers working with this age group on addictive disorders. Methods: Descriptive study relating to an evaluation of the knowledge of child psychiatry caregivers working with adolescents on addictive disorders in this age group with a literature review posting on the subject. . Results: All the caregivers participating in our study were already faced with a situation of adolescent addiction, with polydrug use situations in 39% of cases. Only 14% of caregivers have already benefited from training on the topic. However, 71% of participants did not think that poly addiction is the rule in adolescent addiction. Questions also on alcohol, ethyl intoxication and the progression of alcohol addiction according to gender were asked, where 57% of participants had a wrong answer and think that the progression of alcohol consumption is not the same among boys and girls. Part of the questions related to the consumption of psychoactive substances and the signs of opioid withdrawal , 81% of participants had a false answer to the question relating to opioid withdrawal. The health and social consequences of consumption during adolescence constitute a major public health concern and justify public policies for prevention, care and reduction of harm associated with drug use and, more broadly, addictive behavior [1]. Thus a possible investment in the training of caregivers in child psychiatry can be very helpful. Conclusion: Studies are becoming more and more in-depth, but multicenter longitudinal studies remain necessary to emphasize the interest in training all caregivers working with the adolescent population on the theme of addiction in order to ensure better prevention of addictive disorders, better support for young people and better care.
