Abstract
Black males in the United States experience a disproportionate burden of mental health challenges shaped by intersecting forces of racism, gender-based expectations, and systemic inequities. Despite the prevalence of mental health concerns, Black males remain significantly less likely to seek traditional therapy due to stigma, institutional mistrust, and a lack of culturally responsive services. At the same time, many turn to faith-based support systems, particularly pastoral counseling, which align more closely with cultural and spiritual values.
