Abstract
Scanning Probe Microscope (SPM) is one of the important tools used to characterize the samples in Materials Science Research by studying the surface morphology and analyzing topography. Surfaces are probed with a probing method by scanning the surfaces with a xyz scanning stage. The probed parameter is mapped as intensity of pixels and displayed as Images and stored as digital images for further process. Digital Image Processing is used to analyse these digital images. For a better understanding the images must be of good quality. Before processing the images enhancement is important for a better visibility and process. In this paper the image enhancement is taken as a topic of interest and discussed. Further a few images were taken and analysed with the various enhancing techniques described in the experimental part. A comparison of images shows the need and importance of the enhancement process.
