Internal Factors Affecting Students' Preferences on Vocational Education in the Arts: A Survey in Indonesia

Abstract
This study aims to examine the effect of students? internal factor (information literacy, self-knowledge, and attitude) on their decision to enroll inthe art education program of vocational high school (VHS). It is ex-post facto correlational research using a sample of 300 out of a total of 1, 086 students. The sample was established using the proportional random sampling techniqueby means of the Krejcie and Morgan formula. The data were collected by means ofquestionnaires, observation sheets, and documents. The results of the study show that (1) there is a significant and positive relationship between internal factors and students' decisions to take art education at Vocational High Schools; (2) all internal factors have a significant effect both directly and indirectly on students' decisions to take art education in Vocational High Schools.
