Improving propaganda of the “Knowledge” (Znanie) society in the light of Perestroika (based on the materials of the Smolensk region)

The paper covers the activities of the “Knowledge” (Znanie) society in the middle 1980s to conduct lectures and political and educational work among the residents of the Smolensk region. The article shows various means and forms of scientific knowledge propaganda: lectures, reports, round table discussions, film lectures, methodological, theoretical and scientific seminars, which were introduced and used by the lecturers of the “Knowledge” society to educate the population. The authors conclude that the scientific propaganda of the Society is still in demand and is used for educational and information publishing activities.
