Abstract

This qualitative scoping review examines organizational culture within the unique socio-cultural context of Indian organizations. It synthesizes prominent theories, including Schein's Three Levels and agile cultural models, to understand workplace dynamics. The study explores how India's diversity shapes cultural practices, emphasizing collectivism and hierarchy. Collectivism fosters collaborative environments, while hierarchical values influence structured decision-making. This study systematically reviewed 63 articles published between 1985 and 2021 to investigate organizational culture within Indian organizations, analyzing how cultural dimensions such as collectivism and hierarchy shape workplace dynamics. Using a qualitative scoping review, articles were selected based on inclusion/exclusion criteria. Data extraction and analysis were conducted to identify key themes and trends. The review analyzes correlations between culture, leadership, employee engagement, technology, and diversity. Transformational and servant leadership align with India's cultural expectations, enhancing engagement. Transparent communication and recognition systems boost motivation and commitment. Inclusive practices promote diversity and belonging in workplaces. Technology integration requires cultural adaptability for success. Gaps in regional variations and longitudinal research are identified. Practical implications include leadership development and diversity initiatives. Future research should explore cultural nuances and employee well-being. This review provides actionable insights for practitioners. It aims to enhance organizational resilience in India's dynamic business environment.
