Abstract

Current state of Carpathian barbel (Barbus carpathicus Kotlik, Tsigenopoulos, Rab et Berrebi, 2002) stocks in Transcarpathian rivers has been studied based on data of control and poaching catches obtained with the aid of different fishing gears. Results indicate that this species is enough abundant and widespread in mountane and premountane rivers of the region and currently its state does not give concerns.
