IBN ABD AL-BARR AND ARAB GENEALOGICAL SCIENCE

The article is devoted to the question of the Arab genealogical science, which is part of the Arab historical knowledge. The importance of genealogy and its importance in social life of the Arab society are described in the work. The main works of medieval authors are also given in this field among them work ibn Abd al-Burr, the well-known scientist from Andalusia is especially allocated. Its book is the major source in studying the Arab science of genealogy. Importance and uniqueness of this work is that it can be considered as introduction into fundamentals of the Arab genealogy. The title of the book, which is called "Al-Kasdu уа al-Umam fi al-tagrifi bi usul al-ansab arab уа al-adzham" also specifies it (The purpose and the nations in studying of bases of genealogy of Arabs and foreigners). The author of the article gives attention to an explanation of some aspects of the Arab science of genealogy; provides the biography of ibn Abd al-Burr; and also gives the short description of the book, allocating highlights of this remarkable work.
