Abstract

The article presents the theoretical and methodological basis of the learning to read in a foreign language in point of cognitive approach. Some cognitive strategies for reading comprehension were selected, correlated to the corresponding actions and exercises; text materials and tasks for development of abilities of foreign-language reading and the corresponding strategies in modern pupil’s books were analyzed.
