Impact of urban discourse landscape on the social well-being of the urban residents

The article raises a problem of urban institutional naming and analyzes the pilot study results aimed at correlating the degree of individuals’ associated perception of the ergonyms with the inner world. The authors suggest a nominotypical classifi cation relating to individual emotional impact and illustrate the quantitative results of lexico-semantic processing of the urban names. The linguistic-ecological aspects of the urban discourse landscape are treated from the position of their infl uence on social well-being of the urban residents. Prospects for future research dealing with national language marginalization as a characteristic of modern urban linguistic culture are introduced
