The article presents the results of the author's research, conducted among students to identify opinions about the factors that influence the formation of the middle class in the region. The research allowed to fix the criteria for the identification of the middle class in the representation of young people and to identify the objective and subjective social factors that, according to young people, affect the reproduction of the middle class in the region
