Abstract

Individuals are always curious about and want to learn about peoples’ impressions about themselves with whom they are in interaction in their environment. If their impressions show parallelism with their wishes, they are happy, otherwise they are mostly upset. Individuals, who wish to create such an impression that they want to be seen or recognized, put forth in many different ways. This research which aims to determine the impressions of inspectors’ colleagues according to the education inspectors and their assistants, who work in the Ministry of National Education, is survey research model. Study group which consists of 100 education inspectors and their assistants, was determined through random sampling method. A questionnaire was used as a data collection tool. In the light of results of the literature review, the questionnaire which was used before was developed and adapted and the impression method strategies in the questionnaire was used from the point of 4 scale dimension. Findings were analyzed through SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences), frequency and percentage were used for the classification questions in the analysis of the findings. In order to describe the levels of administrators’ using impression strategies, arithmetic mean and standard deviation were used; one-way analysis of variance was used in order to make comparisons between groups for the unrelated samples. According to the mean average, it is understood that the inspectors are not often using a certain strategy commonly. It has been stated that “Self promotion” is the most commonly used strategy. This strategy is followed by “Explaining”, “intimidiation” and “ingratiation” strategies. Any meaningful correlations couldn’t be found between the inspectors’ colleagues’ impression method strategies and their demographic characteristics.
