Abstract

In his farewell address, president Dwight D. Eisenhower expresses important ideas and warns about the gain of excessive influence, the misplaced power of the American military-industrial complex, built during his time at the White House. He also warns about the risks of the scientific research to be taken over by the state or the risk that scientists gain too much influence in society. Eisenhower exhorts people to balance, moderation, temperance and also warns about the risks of the cold war. We translated the speech in Romanian and also made some comments and analysis on the text and show the impact of the farewell address 50 years after and what the media and some specialists published about this speech.
