Abstract
This paper shows a methodology for characterization the students’ cognitive activity when solving programming problems of algorithmic nature. It also reveals the methodology stages and the dimensions assumed to assess the process using several methods, techniques and tools.
The paper describes some characteristics and regularities from the behavior of three students when they solve a programming problem.
