A Study on the Efficient Method to Manage the Key Information in the DRM

DRM protects the content by encrypting the content in order to prevent unauthorized users from using of the digital content and by sending the key information of the decryption to authorized users. The results show that most of the domestic DRM industries manage the encryption keys by using KMS, while overseas advanced DRM technologies such as CryplopeTM of IBM[1] and WMRMTM of Microsoft [2] minimize the burden for the key management by using the enveloping key information with encrypted content in the Secure Container provide the technological background to efficiently support various business models by using the distributive key management. This study aims to suggest an efficient way to manage the key information for the contents encryption. To this aim, the existing commercial key management methods used in domestic and overseas DRM industries were compared and analyzed.
