Abstract

The article deals with the study of ways found plausible for the translation of one of the most authentic and original works of the Japanese classical literature ? The Tale of Genji. It gives a deep survey of the approaches that were applied by the most trustworthy translators of this work tracing the set of language means used for it alongside with the transformations that were introduced by each of three described interpreters. Moreover, the article suggests a diachronic approach to the investigation of the peculiarities that are found in poetic insertions into the prosaic narration ? the interpreters belong to various times but there’s one and the same topic that attracts them most in the original Japanese work ? the theme of love and affection
