Abstract

A secured Communication between Sender and Receiver over a wide area network involves mainly Confidentiality and Authentication services. Confidentiality and Authentication services can be achieved by Encryption techniques. In the view of public-key cryptographic techniques, confidentiality can be achieved by encrypting the message with the receiver’s public key so that it can be decrypted only by the receiver’s private key. Authentication can be achieved by encrypting the message with sender’s private key which can be decrypted by only by the sender’s corresponding public key. Many cryptographic algorithms? are available which are being used for these security services to enhance the quality of the communication. In this paper we have proposed a innovative method which can provides confidentiality , mutual authentication and key-exchange? services using handshaking technique and with the use of good hold resistor color coding?? calculation expressions. The protocol proposed in this paper provides mutual authentication between the users with the exchange of predetermined calculated values. The proposed scheme makes use of well-known resistor color coding formula (R=AB X 10C ) involves three integer value of arbitrary length and by knowing the first value of the expression (A), the other values(B and C) can be estimated. The estimated values can be exchanged between the entities to provide secured authentication service. The Resultant? value that would be exchanged can be used as secret key for further encrypted symmetric communication. The proposed method is very simple , effective and innovative .
