Abstract

Due to their geographical position, the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union have more prospects on goods transit between Europe and Asia. According to estimates, the rapid increase of cargo traffic between these continents is expected. This sphere needs powerful, profitable and coordinated policy. It is worth remembering that international economic integration has its positive and negative sides. For some countries, it becomes a reason of production, technical and social progress, while for others it can be a reason of economic slowdown, decrease of commercial competitive ability and dependence. That is why sophisticated mutually profitable cooperation is an important step for these projects. The project of Silk Road Economic Belt, developed by China, seems very profitable for Russia. This large-scale plan looks more like a myth, is it possible? What is the role of Russia and Eurasian Economic Union in its implementation? Are there any risks and is it necessary for Russia to take part in this project? We will consider these issues.
