Abstract

The speeding of machine assemblies enables performance enhancement, reduction of downtime due to mode switching, saving energy costs etc. Indeed, using variable-speed devices in the drives of metal-cutting equipment helps to save 20 to 30 % operating time at parts manufacture based on variable-radius processing, whereas using variable-speed devices in automotive vehicle transmissions contributes to a 15 to 20 % cutdown of fuel consumption [2]. Each type of variable-speed device has its constructional, kinematic and dynamic features. There are also features related to the response of V-belt variable-speed devices. Thus, it is necessary to study the process of time optimal control for V-belt variable-speed device.
