Abstract

Purpose. Comparative studies of the mechanical properties of steels at different temperatures for testing of railway wheels of different chemical composition. Methods. Pull test at stretching by high temperatures at GOST 9651, test the percussion bend at low temperatures were made according at GOST 9454 specimen taken from the rims of solid-rolled railway wheels of steel “2”, “T” and “K”, manufacture of PJSC “Interpipe NTRP". Results. Increasing temperature pull test results in reduced strength in varying degrees depending on the chemical composition of the steels. Plastic properties of steels thus have a different character depending. The most sensitive was relatively narrowing. It is found that at subcritical temperatures until a change of phase composition, relative narrowing steel "C" is significantly superior to other investigated steel reaches 90%. That is, the strain localization under the new brand is characterized by high resistance to fracture and cracking. Employment impact at low temperatures experienced grade "K" has a level of a value close to the mark "2", and is significantly higher (by 2.5-3 times) valuesfor the brand "T". Originality. The regularities of the influence of the test temperature on the mechanical properties of the rims of railway wheels of different chemical: indicators of strength, ductility and toughness of steel. It was found that the change in the mechanical properties of the steel has a different character when the temperature changes. Practical value. Solid-rolled railway wheels of steel "K" have a high operational reliability, since a range of indicators of strength and ductility at high temperatures, impact energy at low temperatures it is much superior to the existing analogues.
