Background. The scientific article is dedicated to stress testing as modern instrument of risk management, that allows to estimate the maximally expected losses of separate banks and bank sector on the whole depending on global and specific economic tendencies in a country. The review of scientific sources in this sphere testifies that different aspects of macroeconomic stress testing of bank risks are not enough highlighted in scientific works of foreign and domestic scientists. Also remains great discussion on using foreign advanced experience in macroeconomic risks stress testing by central banks in national regulator practice. This important research and practice problem defined the purpose and task of this research. Results of the research. Stress testing of both separate banks and banking system allows to find out what losses a bank (or a system on the whole) can suffer because of unexpected events. The banking system of Ukraine remains extraordinarily vulnerable to different types of risks. It cuases a need in the careful monitoring of risk level of operations in the banking system and development of complex of measures of the adequate reacting. Taking into account public lack of information in relation to macroeconomic risks stress testing of domestic banks, it appears appropriate to investigate this question in foreign countries. Conclusion. Analysis of foreign experience in stress-testing of bank risks allows to distinguish basic directions of improvement of mechanism of its realization by the National Bank of Ukraine. Modern Ukrainian banking system trends require from a national regulator the input of practice of credit risk stress testing on regular basis, development of complex methodology of realization of stress test, and also informing public in relation to its results.
