INVESTIGATION OF UNIVERSITY ADMINISTRATORS’ SKILLS ABOUT MANAGING WITH EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGIES IN THEIR INSTITUTIONS

Abstract

In this study, it is aimed to research university administrators' skills about managing with educational technologies in their institutions, according to opinions of academic and administrative managers. The universe of this study which was conducted in an interactive scanning model is 1464 academics and 98 administrative managers working in Gumushane and Ataturk University in 2014-2015 academic years. 305 academic administrators, about 21%, and 78 administrative managers, about 79,59%, were interviewed. "Education administrators' technology leadership self-efficacy scale" was followed in collecting the data. Frequency (f), percentage (%), mean, standard deviation, t-test, ANOVA and LSD tests were utilized to analyze the data. It has been observed that academic and administrative managers working in universities have seen themselves as partially sufficient or an adequate level in terms of technological leadership and the dimensions of technological leadership. When viewed in terms of the technological leadership and sub-dimensions of technological leadership such as visionary leadership, the digital age learning culture, excellence in professional practice, the systematic development and digital citizenship, it was concluded that there are significant differences between academic administrators and administrative managers, administrators of Gumushane University and Ataturk University, junior executives and senior executives.
