MASSIVE ISOLATED RIGHT ATRIAL THROMBUS IN DILATED CARDIOMYOPATHY -THE SWORD OF DAMOCLES WITH DIAGNOSTIC AND THERAPEUTIC CHALLENGES - A RARE CASE REPORT

Isolated right atrial thrombus in dilated cardiomyopathy is rare. We report a case of a 68 year old female patient who presented with worsening heart failure. Twodimensional transthoracic echocardiography showed dilated cardiomyopathy and a large type B right atrial thrombus measuring 5.6cm 3.5 cm in size, impinging and traversing the tricuspid valve along with the phases of cardiac cycle. After therapeutic anticoagulation, echocardiographic evaluation revealed decrease in size of thrombus. The purpose of this communication is to emphasize the diagnostic and therapeutic dilemma in right atrial thrombus masquerading as a tumour
