Abstract

Deficits in neurocognition and social cognition are integral parts of schizophrenia. This concept was first stated by Kraeplin which led to research in this field. There has been continuous improvement in the tools used in measuring theses deficits with inclusion of modern neuroimaging techniques recently. Research is also ongoing in the field of psychopharmacological therapies to overcome these deficits however it is the psychological therapies which seem to offer most benefit.
