Abstract
Big Data may be understood as data sets whose sizes exceed the capacity of conventional database tools. The Big Data resources may include business transactions, e-mail messages, photos, surveillance videos and activity logs. Big data can be analyzed with the aim to draw informative results that lead to better decisions and strategic business moves. Although Big data could benefit many areas of social life and business, it also raises privacy concerns. The paper discusses the issue of privacy and threats related to using big data technologies, especially personal data processing, video surveillance and monitoring the internet users' behavior during different activities. The aim of the paper is identification of subjective perception of privacy violation related to mass personal data processing. For this purpose the authors present the questionnaire survey results that was conducted recently among the students of Warsaw School of Economics.
