Abstract
Objective: To analyze the literature data and the results of own research of the role of matrix metalloproteinases in the pathogenesis of endometriosis. Materials and methods: The literature data about the participation of matrix metalloproteinases in the pathogenesis of endometriosis were analyzed. The immunohistochemical method determined the expression of matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) of the endometrium from 62 women with adenomyosis. Research results: The role of matrix metalloproteinases in the pathogenesis of endometriosis was determined. Clinically active endometriosis expression of MMP-9 in the stroma of foci of adenomyosis and autologous hyperplastic endometrium was higher than in clinically inactive form of the disease.
