Abstract
The aim of the study was to investigate the relationship between heart rate and structural and functional state of the myocardium in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF). We examined 74 patients with AF and determined a positive correlation between heart rate and size and volume of the left ventricle, and a negative correlation with ejection fraction. The received results indicate the presence of tachycardia-induced remodeling of the myocardium of the left ventricle in these patients.
