Al-Karsi, aside from the compilation works for several knowledge branches also have written works of the annotation literature that have been characteristic attribute of the period. One of them is the work titled “Sharh ala Usul al-Hadith”regarding the work of Usul al-Hadith that have been written by the al-Birgivi (981/1573), one of the most famous scholars of Ottoman Empire of the XVIth Century. Al-Karsi in his annotation, used a total of thirty eight different sources on the subjects of Arabic grammar, logic, remark, Islamic Sufism, Islamic jurisprudence and interpretation, while the prophet Muhammad's sayings/deeds are being at the main source. These sources states that his experience on the transfer knowledge and also clearly indicates his depth on Islamic jurisprudence (fiqh) and language areas. Al-Karsi includes hadiths and verses of the Koran in his annotation and does not become negligent for mind while writing transfer and also includes total rules of terms of various remarks and logic Knowledge. Al-Karsi was extremely meticulous on the usage of the hadith resources. His lack of same sensibility on literal narrative has been interpreted as he did not attached importance on literal narrative and did not paid attention to correctness of literal narrative. Having more weak and fabricated narrative on the annotation instead of the precise narrative is an indicator for this situation. Al-Karsi, included more of the mutaakhkhirun (after sixth century) scholars within the sources of literal narrative. Also, in conception descriptions, al-Karsi included opinions confederated by the public. In this study; the aim is to dwell up on the method and Sources of the Dawud al-Karsi titled “Sharh ala Usul al-Hadith”. By this way, in addition to his scientific personality, his enrichment of the hadith annotation literature shall be revealed.
